what inspires you to do art?

Inspired by life. My life, my surroundings, my experience, and all the visual beauty that is the Caribbean that includes its people our heritage and how I feel in the Centre of this giant pepper pot of excitement.

When did you start art?

Wow. From birth? Haha. Truly. I’ve always been drawn to the arts in that I’ve always doodled and sketch for as long as I remember. I started really becoming invested at ASC in 2011/2012. After that, every move I made was to ensure my growth as an artist.

What did you want your art to do? Meaning did you want it to inspire? Reach on the biggest platform? Etc

I want my art to inspire persons as much as art inspires me. To not only create art but to create the life that makes them happiest. Their own personal paradise. Just like my art has done for me. I’d like my art to not only be available virtually but tangibly in the homes of persons who find my pieces inspiring or even if it just gives them a good vibe in the morning. I’m all about creating good vybz and sharing them.

What Are your biggest challenges being an artist?

The biggest challenge for me is creating work that speaks to what is going on in my mind. That truly portrays what I feel or what I want viewers to feel. I also think it’s hard to get persons to value art and artists on a deeper level. Deeper than just “ that’s pretty” it’s challenging creating the conversations that need to be had.

How do you feel about art today?

Art has become a vehicle for expression. Criticism. Documentation and overall an amalgamation of all the different thought processes that each artist has. I see artists becoming unafraid in their pursuits. And creating things that speak volumes about the amazing group of people we are privileged to be a part of.
